"Energy Healing" means different things to different
people. In my opinion, Reiki, Touch for Health, medical Qi Gong, NLP,
family constellation work, aromatherapy, homeopathy, etc., could all be
considered forms of healing that work on an "energetic level." Certainly,
they are all working on some "other level," well beyond what we can see
and easily understand. Why do they work? Why do they sometimes not work,
or at least seem not to work? And in my case, how do I get images, words,
and stories in my head, and why, and why not all the time, and what do
they mean exactly? I have a lot more questions than answers.
When I first began receiving "extra information" while giving acupressure
treatments, I didn't say anything about it to anyone. I was worried that
people would think I was crazy -- or more accurately, I
was worried that I was crazy. But after a while my experiences started
to feel normal, and I started telling people about them. Now most of my
clients specifically want to hear about my "impressions." I tell them,
and add my theories, but always emphasize that I am just sharing my experience.
They are free to make their own interpretations. Someone can choose to
believe or not to believe that particular image means "I'm on the
path to getting cancer" -- but if they choose that interpretation, I also
encourage them to choose "I can get off that path." As a healer, I feel
it is very important that my experiences and messages empower others,
because an empowered person has a stronger inner fire.
Past Lives
Many of my experiences involve images from a client's past life. (Or at
least, that is my favorite interpretation. I tell people that the image
could also be a metaphor, or something from the "collective unconscious"
of humanity, or maybe something related to someone they love, or maybe
nothing at all.) Often, the image involves a person in a stressful or
life-threatening situation, which seems to have contributed to an inexplicable
fear or pain or pattern of behavior in this lifetime. I find that I can
have a conversation with the "past-life" person, ask questions, and act
as a "channel" to speak out the answers. (Click here
for an illustration.)

Body Consciousness
Frequently, I also act as a bridge to a particular part of the client's
body, which might need to communicate with me about a physical imbalance
or a past trauma. This often seems to be necessary when the client has
had an injury or surgery in that part of the body, especially if local
or general anesthetic was involved. (Click here
for an illustration.) Every now and then, I "hear" a part of someone's
body speaking to me before the client tells me that he or she had surgery
there! I still feel a little giddy when that happens. If I'm not just
"inventing" these stories, where DO they come from and how?

Guided Movement
When I am not relaying messages from a past life
or a person's body, I keep my focus on my own Higher Self or my Spirit
Guides. Frequently they will guide me to put my hands on or above certain
chakras or other parts of the body. When I do this, I feel unusual sensations
in my hands, and I also find that my hands will move "on their own,"
unless I specifically choose to move them myself. This can be a very
useful thing. If I am sitting above someone's head, wondering if I should
massage this point or that point or begin with a cranial-sacral hold
or work off-body in the person's aura -- I just put out my hands. If
I am peaceful and neutral and "connected" with my Higher Self and Guides,
then my hands begin, with no effort from me.
When my hands are working "under Guidance," I like to ask questions
about what I am doing, and I'll often get words or images for answers.
It seems that I am frequently removing "energetic debris" from people's
energy fields -- stones, arrows, fallen rubble from earthquakes -- things
that killed them in previous lives. Words and thoughts can leave their
own debris, and I have other techniques for removing the "people-always-hurt-me"
or the "I-have-to-suffer-to-proove-I'm-worthy" statements caught in
people's energy fields. These can be as damaging as a whole collection
of old arrows and spears! Sometimes I make geometric symbols in the
air, in the same manner as Reiki practitioners. Apparently, I am also
working with invisible "energy cords" that connect people with their
loved ones (and their enemies and others with whom they have scheduled
karmic contracts.) I often get the impression that "other people" are
present, such as the client's deceased father or a more negative-feeling
energy, and I'll also get Guidance on how to work with these. Every
session I give is totally unique!

Spiritual Counseling
Another aspect of my energy healing work is spiritual counseling. For
these sessions, people visit me or call me on the telephone, and we talk.
Usually, we begin by connecting to the person's own Higher Self or Spirit
Guide, and from there we both ask questions. These can range from questions
about the person's primary life lessons in this incarnation, to questions
about the origins of a rash and what treatments might help. Often, people
will ask the sorts of questions that other people might call "crazy,"
probably knowing that I am in no position to judge anyone! Do I think
that Mary's cat could be an incarnation of her dead aunt, because Mary
noticed such and such....? I say, I have no idea, I've never considered
such a thing, but let's ask... and then we get a little lesson from the
Guides about Soul extensions, and how they often overshadow individual
animal incarnations, especially pets and zoo animals.
Through these sessions, I've learned that the "words" people use are not
as important as the meanings they give them. For example, Mary and I could
both ask her Higher Self, "why does Mary keep falling in love with angry
men? Is it her karma?" But If Mary asks with the question, and her meaning
behind the question is, "is it my fault? am I bad person who is being
punished for something?" then the answer might be "no." If I
ask the question, and my meaning behind the question is, "is this Mary's
destiny, something she earned in a past life that can't be erased in a
one-hour session?" then the answer might also be "no." But if
one of us asks the question, and the meaning behind the question is, "did
Mary choose to make a contract about this, so that she might rather easily
change the contract right now?" then the answer might be "yes."
Why and how we ask questions is very important -- context and intention
is everything. During a spiritual counseling session, I work carefully
to understand the situation around the questions so that I can channel
useful answers.

My Book
A few years ago, I gathered a lot of the information I had received from
my Higher Self and Guides, and organized it into the form of a book. The
book has ten chapters, covering various topics such as love, relationships,
channeling, the call of the Soul, and spiritual evolution. I had a lot
of fun writing the book, and I got a lot of answers to a lot of my own
questions, but I haven't published it yet. After years of procrastination,
I did finally get it in order and mail it to my first potential publisher,
a year ago. They said it didn't fit in their assortment. This year, I'm
planning to send it to some more publishers (although finding a new place
to live and work is a higher priority.) In the meantime, you can follow
this link if you would like to read a selection
from the book.
